The Christmas Novena Tradition
It's 9 Days until Christmas, and for many Catholics, today is the start of the tradition of the Christmas Novena. The tradition is to go to Mass every day starting today until Christmas morning, and pray the novena.
When I look for prayers online, EWTN is usually a good source, and sure enough they have the text of a Christmas Novena.
I also poked around Amazon, and found a Kindle pamphlet of the Christmas Novena written by the great moral theologian Saint Alphonsus Liguori. Amazon has a lot of his writings in print and on Kindle. It's rather wonderful to see classic prayers and theological discussions on electronic devices, isn't it?
Of his works, I am putting The Glories of Mary on my to-read list. It's a fundamental text in Marian devotion and yet I have never read it.
