Couch Potato: Rogue One, Man in A High Castle S2

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

We watched Rogue One yesterday. All I knew going in is that it's some kind of prequel side story not related to the main Star Wars, aside from that I had no expectations. Also, keep in mind that I am not a Star Wars fan. I watch the movies but that's about it. I have mixed feelings about this movie. It's got a lot of action, the story is a bit grim, and the acting performances are adequate, and probably better than movies 1-3.

The Imperial droid turned rebel sidekick K-2SO stole the show. He was like a robot version of Sheldon Cooper (Big Bang Theory). Alan Tudyk has great comedic timing. I love this droid so much I picked him to represent the post.

Another great supporting character was Chirrut Îmwe, aka Ip Man's Donnie Yen. Mads Mikkelson's Galen Erso also stands out.

This is definitely a PG-13 movie because of the death level. I don't think I would bring very young kids to it. If you are bringing younger kids to see it, please prepare them ahead of time that it is a sad story.

Novelization
Even as a non-fan, I caught several Easter Eggs / shout outs in the movie, which was fun. I think doing side movies in the Star Wars universe is a good idea. But for the love of the Force, could we just kill the Death Star in all it's forms as the McGuffin once and for all?

The Man in A High Castle Season 2

Great news for fans of the Amazon original series The Man in A High Castle. Season 2 is now available -- free for Prime members. I am on episode three and it's great so far.

If you have never seen this, it's loosely based on Philip K. Dick's book by the same name, set in a world where the Axis powers won World War II and divvied up the USA between them. The first episode is free for anyone to watch.
